SТART-UP Kazakhstan

 

National Innovation Fund initiated a national competition “Start-up Kazakhstan” with a purpose of creation a network of university technological business-incubators (UTBI) and financing of innovative projects at the initial stage of development through UTBI. 

Technological business-incubators are going to be established on a basis of existing universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 

The competition consists of 2 stages:
- selection and determining of winners of the UTBI;
- selection of the START-UP projects.
Competition was organized among 70 technological universities of Kazakhstan.
In 2007, the following universities became winners of the Start-Up Kazakhstan competition:
•  East-Kazakhstan State Technical University named after D. Serikbayev;
•  Karaganda State Technical University;
•  Kazakh National Technical University named after Satpayev;
•  JSC Kazakh-British Technical University;
•  West-Kazakhstan Agro-technical University named after Zhangir-khan;
•  South-Kazakhstan State University named after Auezov
        
July 30 - August 1, 2007, a training on “Organization and management of business-incubators. Commercialization of innovative projects” was conducted for the winners and participants of the «Start-up Kazakhstan» competition.  The main speaker on the training –was Mr. Moshe Kacenelson , the General Director of Israeli technopark “Technion”.
      
The second stage of the Competition has been launched recently.
